Remodel and Demolition Abatement in Eagan

Typical cost in Eagan

  • Abatement for one kitchen or bathroom remodel$1,900 – $5,500+
  • Abatement of a whole house before tear-down$9,500 – $28,500+

Asbestos comes out before the wrecking crew or the remodeler goes in. That is Minnesota’s rule for every structure, houses included, and it covers whatever a gut remodel, an addition or a teardown will disturb. We do that part, so your builder starts on a clear site.

Remodel and teardown abatement is available across Eagan, Inver Grove Heights and West St. Paul.

Abatement by project

Interior remodels

A kitchen, bath or lower-level project can involve flooring, joint compound and ceiling texture in one job. We clear each positive layer in the order your project needs.

Siding and roofing

Asbestos use in roofing and siding declined quickly from the early 1980s, MDH says, and the agency advises leaving sound material alone. So we remove only the courses your addition or re-siding will disturb.

Teardowns

For a full teardown, MPCA wants every bit of asbestos out of the house two or more days before demolition, so we finish ahead of your wrecking date.

Apartments, commercial and multi-house projects

Is it an apartment or commercial building? Then MPCA wants ten working days of warning ahead of any work on regulated asbestos, and an apartment building counts once it has five units. A house of up to four units skips that notice. The exceptions are a house that was converted from a regulated use, a batch of houses one owner is tearing down together, and a house removed to make way for a highway, urban renewal or commercial development.

Demolition in Eagan

Eagan’s demolition permit comes from the city, and its permit pages are silent on asbestos. The state steps above still apply, so book the inspection and abatement to finish before demolition day.

Checking a contractor

Whoever does the abatement, ask to see the state license, the crew’s certificates, the MDH permit and a written work plan before work starts.

Records to keep

Keep the inspection report, the waste manifests and the clearance results in one folder, since your builder may ask to see them.
